Application start with the Library window. Here You can add, edit, erase, lock and unlock the diaries. All the controls are available in the toolbar, “Properties” edits diary title and cover skin. Lock/Unlock allows to protect a diary with password, AES encryption is used for locked diary, however, the video is not encrypted in any case! Protected diary is disallowed to edit or delete without proper password entered and it’s database in covered, but video fines are still accessible through the Finder. To make a top-secure diary, You can user non-default library location, for instance, MacOS allows to create a secure encrypted partition, You can choose a folder on such partition as Library Store. To change the library store You should use a path selector located in the right-bottom part of the Library windows. This simple path selector switches Library location to the selected path.
Concrete diary looks like the screenshot above. It’s split to the optional Calendar control, diaries list and selected entry view. Hover mouse over an entry to get entry lock/unlock and erase controls, record title can be edited right in the place, just double-click on the title. Right part of the window contains entry view, it has three main parts: video area in the top part, text are ain the bottom and tags area in the footer. Video and text areas are divided by a thin divider, You can vary it’s position individually for every entry in the diary. Tags block in the footer can be expanded and collapsed, right-bottom part of the window contains a button that adjusts diary preferences: You can choose another skin for the paper of entries.
An empty entry shows a placeholder and two buttons: “Record” and “Load”. First one is used to capture a new video from Your webcam right in place, second one is used to attach any external video (or other media files recognized by the QuickTime). Video recording options are available in the Preferences pane and are covered by the QuickTime: all cameras supported by this library are OK. Also You can choose from a number of video and audio codecs, resolutions. All media data by default is located in the app Library, external files are copied into this folder, however, You can left an external link if You want to link to a big file without copying. Hover the mouse over the existing video player area – two buttons will appear. Erase button removes the link to the video and erases the file if it is located in the Library. Export button exports single video into an external file of Your choice.
Every diary entry can contain some text data in rich format. Regular “Format” menu covers all texts tasks: fonts, sizes, styles, colors and so on. Rich text supports image attachments as well, You cna simply drop an images from the Finder right into the text area.
Tags & Search
Tags editor in the footer of the entry view allows to edit entry tags. Expand the editor (small disclosure triangle control near the label) and clock on the area below. Caret will appear – now You can write some tags. Split text to tags hitting Return, auto-complete will suggest You all available options with the existing tags. Tags are not shared between the diaries, they are shared between the entries of a single diary only!
When You need to find some specific entry, You can use “Quick Search” filed located in the left-bottom part of the window. It searches entered text among titles, body and tags of the entries. Calendar control can hurry the search up if You now entry date. Sort mode selector helps to organize entries list the way You’d prefer the to see.
